Teamwork Makes the Dream Work

You’ve heard the term ‘Strength in Numbers” and this is true of many things.

When building a company from the ground up, numbers are small. Everything typically starts from some sort of infancy stage before growing and maturing. And as with an infant, or anything that grows – a certain level of care, trust, work, and effort needs to be put in.

A seed for a flower is not as likely to grow and flourish and lead its beautiful life without some help. Soil, water, nutrients, sunlight, are all required to work together to ensure the seed grows and blossoms.

The same is true of a person.

If you have a baby and leave it to fend for itself, odds are they won’t make it very far.

Care for the baby, feed it, cloth it, teach it, love it – your baby will grow into an adult. And depending on the type of nurturing they receive and the environment they are raised in, this new adult will blossom into something that has taken years of love, care, kindness, and devotion to create.

Teams and Company’s are much the same.

Everything and everyone requires care. We all need help at some point or another. And to be the one that puts differences or life aside to help another, this is what will cultivate not just the one in need, but yourself as well.

Not only must we help each other out when we see someone down, we need to understand when we ourselves need help. And we need to know how and when to ask and realize that asking for help is not an indication of failure, but rather another step on the ladder to success.

We all learn and grow best when we work together. If we surround ourselves with positivity, strength, leadership, teamwork, and a genuine care for a common goal – together we will strive and blossom into something most beautiful and incredible.

The more we care, the more we nurture – the better the outcome.

Where misery may like company, the same is said for happiness. Smiles are contagious. The simple act of passing a smile on from one person to the next until the entire room is smiling is going to start radiating positivity.

And from this positive energy, greatness can grow.

Common goals can be achieved when everyone works together to achieve them.

The moment a link in the chain falters, breaks down, or becomes unhinged entirely – this will change the whole dynamic of the chain.

Now it is up to the team to mend this link. Fix it so the link becomes stronger as an individual, and also ensures that by their own strength, they’re creating a stronger team. By ignoring the issue, eventually the entire team could potentially breakdown and fall apart. So ensuring everyone is always looking out for the other is an integral part of the system.

Last year our CEO Constantine Ioannou had the opportunity to attend a workshop in New York City.

I will let his words speak for himself below.

Last year I had the opportunity to attend Simon Sineks “Why” discovery workshop in New York City. This experience amplified my thought process in how I could be a beacon in my company to help lead, inspire and motivate our people within our organization and return birthed my “Why”….

“To help people see and seize opportunities to live outside the box”

The culture at Sentinel did not happen overnight. It took years of leading by example and finding people that believe what we believe. We strive on a daily basis to cultivate leadership and create an incredible contagious environment of positivity, however with high stakes and pressured environments this isn’t always easy to accomplish.

The video below is a little snippet of our team culture using a clip audio from Simon Sineks “Taking Care of Others”
